Two things caught my eye today, the first being the poster above from Occupy Wall Street Arts and Labor movement. It’s worth keeping in mind as you search for experience in your chosen field, arts or otherwise: unpaid internships perpetuate unpaid and poorly paid labor in all industries, so make sure that you a) search the paid listings first and b) only undertake unpaid internships if your supervisor is willing to act as a true mentor and shepherd your (short-term) internship toward paid opportunities.
The second thing to catch my eye was the Guardian’s article on Frieze. Jerry Saltz weighed in first on the comments, so I couldn’t resist making a comment too…..
